Books continue to play an important role in our family by shaping our thinking and giving us the confidence to achieve great success. Out of the many books we have read, below are a few that greatly influenced our family.

How to Win Friends & Influence People| By Dale Carnegie

The Sinhala translation of this book was first read by the grandfather in 1964. The same book was passed onto H L Ananda and Indrani Sooriyaarachchi and later passed on to their children. The whole family has read the Sinhala translation, the English original version and the book’s newest English version (“How to Win Friends and Influence People in the Digital Age”).

This book provided much-needed schooling for the grandfather, because he didn’t have the luxury of being able to afford formal education or to be mentored by successful people. This book transformed our family’s thinking and working habits towards achieving great success.
